Advancing a regional approach to Africa-China energy cooperation
RE.Think Founder and CEO Wangari Muchiri speaks at SAIIA in Addis Ababa on regional coordination in Africa-China energy and climate ties.

RE.Think Founder and CEO Wangari Muchiri joined the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for a session on advancing a regional approach to Africa-China energy and climate cooperation, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel.

On the panel
The session brought together voices from across the continent's energy and policy landscape to discuss how African countries can coordinate more closely in their engagement with Chinese investment, technology and financing in the energy and climate space, and what a regional approach, in place of a country-by-country one, could unlock.
Why it matters
The day's conversations extended beyond the panel itself, with meetings alongside the African Union Commission, AUDA-NEPAD and the African Development Bank on the same theme: that the energy transition sits at the heart of Africa-China relations, and that a coordinated regional voice gives the continent more leverage than fragmented, bilateral engagement.
It is exactly the kind of policy convening RE.Think values, connecting our project-level work to the continental conversations that shape the environment it happens in.
